In the north, materials that can withstand low temperatures of -30 degrees Celsius are usually required. Electromagnetic valves should also be able to tolerate such low temperatures. How can one tell whether a valve has a aluminum body or a stainless steel body, and thus whether it can handle low temperatures? For example, with ASCO, different valve manufacturers choose different models; some people say that with ASCO it’s only the sealing material of the solenoid valve that varies, and this determines whether the application involves low temperatures. Some say that systems designed to operate at low temperatures definitely cannot use pilot-operated types; I’m confused as well and can’t find a definite answer. Please share your thoughts. Thank you

The ability to withstand low temperatures is primarily related to the material of the seals inside the valve body. ASCO also produces products with aluminum valve bodies that can handle temperatures down to -40 degrees, but these are not commonly used; Also, it seems that adding MF to the model numbers of the 551 aluminum valve body series can also confer low-temperature resistance; however, I haven’t fully verified this yet, as I haven’t come across such models in the market.
Solenoid valves are resistant to low temperatures, primarily because the rubber seals inside the valve are capable of withstanding low temperatures. Many models of ASCO solenoid valves can withstand low temperatures. Additionally, when selecting a solenoid valve, you only need to specify: the material of the valve body, the material of the coil, the control voltage, power consumption requirements, temperature resistance rating, explosion protection rating, protection level, and the dimensions of the electrical connections (usually, the dimensions of the gas supply connection are determined by the valve manufacturer; small CV valves require the use of a corresponding gas control valve). You also need to specify the number of ports and the mounting method for the solenoid valve (pipe mounting or plate mounting). Based on these requirements, the models chosen by everyone are basically the same.
