What kind of treatment is required for coal tar before catalytic cracking? The heavier the fractions from catalytic cracking, the easier it is for them to be cracked; the lighter the fractions, the harder it is for them to be cracked.
At present, most industrial units use hydrocracking; I’m not sure what kind of process catalytic cracking refers to – does it mean a fluidized bed or a suspended bed process?
Isn’t catalytic cracking fluidized catalytic cracking? Isn’t FCC used for oil processing these days?
Currently, there are many HC units for processing coal tar, but coal tar can also be used as a blending material in FCC.
Coal tar has a complex source, contains many impurities, requires pretreatment, and has low hydrogen content, making it unsuitable as a direct feedstock for FCC. Currently, the mainstream process involves pretreatment to remove the coal tar pitch fraction, followed by hydrocracking in a fixed-bed reactor ; The future development trend is to abandon coal tar pitch and use fluidized bed or suspended bed reactors for full-range hydrogenation.
Catalytic cracking is an old process, and the quality of the oil products produced is inferior to that of hydrocracking. Catalytic cracking and hydrocracking are entirely different processes; the oil products come into contact with catalyst particles in the riser and react for a very short period of time, after which the catalyst can be regenerated through coking in the combustion chamber.
