In the WSA wet acid production process, as long as the H2S concentration in the process gas is above 25%, there is no need to burn fuel gas. It is estimated that the situation described above occurs when the WSA unit is operating under low conditions, and the H2S concentration does not reach 25%. As long as there is a market for sulfuric acid produced in the region, using WSA is definitely better than using the Claus process to produce sulfur.
The main issue is market demand. In terms of the current coal chemical industry, acid production is the right choice, but storage and export pose constraints! It’s confusing, especially as stricter regulations on exhaust emissions have increased the environmental pressure associated with coal utilization.
