【Haichuan Chemical Industry News】Sinopec’s smart factory pilot project passes headquarters approval

On December 7, the pilot smart factory project of Sinopec passed the approval by its headquarters. Since its deployment at the four pilot plants – Yanshan Petrochemical, Maoming Petrochemical, Zhenhai Refining & Chemical, and Jiujiang Petrochemical – this system has been operating smoothly with excellent results. It has helped to establish a new model of digital, networked, and intelligent production and operation, resulting in an increase in labor productivity of over 10%, and it has effectively promoted the transformation and upgrading of these enterprises as well as improvements in their efficiency and quality. The project began construction of an intelligent factory in 2012, carrying out preliminary tasks such as planning and design ； The planning for the smart factory was completed in 2013, with the goals for its construction established ； In 2014, the system design for the smart factory was completed, covering business architecture, system architecture, integration architecture, and infrastructure architecture. A standardized framework for smart factories that includes aspects related to technology, data, and applications was established. Feasibility analyses and implementation strategies for the project were developed, and 4 companies were selected as pilots for the construction of smart factories ； In November 2016, the acceptance testing for 4 pilot enterprises was completed, laying the initial framework for Sinopec’s Smart Factory (1.0). By integrating information technology, industrial technology, management technology, and other technical approaches, this project has created a unified centralized platform for the enterprise, enabling its production and operations to possess capabilities such as comprehensive monitoring, optimized coordination, predictive warning, and scientific decision-making. It facilitates closed-loop optimization of the entire production process, ultimately achieving the goals of dynamic balance, optimal production, and maximum efficiency in operations. This achievement was fully recognized by ministries and commissions such as the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission; the smart factory pilots at Jiujiang Petrochemical and Zhenhai Refining & Chemical were designated by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology as \"Smart Manufacturing Pilot Demonstration Projects\" in 2015 and 2016 respectively.
