There’s nothing special about it; it’s just like some glass fiber cloth used for insulation. For leaks in atmospheric pressure storage tanks and pipelines, we often use: applying glue, wrapping cloth (applying tape), then applying glue again; after it dries, we apply glue once more, and if necessary, wrap cloth and apply glue again... For corrosion protection, sometimes more than one layer of cloth is required.

I really don’t understand much about anti-corrosion coatings. I first heard of glass flakes about twenty years ago, and it seems that such materials have been used for internal anti-corrosion protection in our tanks holding thousands of cubic meters of sulfur-containing wastewater; previously, it was epoxy resin combined with glass fiber cloth that was used for this purpose. But for over a decade now, it’s not clear what type of anti-corrosion material has been used; glass fiber cloth has never been employed again, and only some anti-corrosion glue is applied in several coats.

Generally, the thickness of the glass flake layer is increased to improve anti-corrosion performance; however, glass flakes are also brittle materials, and making them too thick can lead to cracking (due to the inherent properties of these materials as well as the significant difference in expansion coefficients compared to steel). Therefore, glass fiber cloth is added to reduce cracking in the coating; 2 Glass fiber cloth/fabric: 300g or 450g weights are commonly used; sometimes, 30g glass fiber tissue is employed to achieve a smoother surface. 3 When using glass fiber reinforcement, it is necessary to ensure that the branches are completely soaked and laid flat, with no air pockets allowed, otherwise bubbles may form.
