What is the difference between a signal generator with 24V and one without, and how are they used?
Refers to a current signal of 4 to 20 milliamps
What is the difference between active signals and passive signals? I’ve never used a signal generator without a 24V output
Is the current output when the probes of the signal generator are connected to MA+ and MA- the current with 24V applied?
Indeed, there are no signal generators without a 24V supply. All signal generators are active. Are you referring to a process verifier with a measurement function? ?

I would like to discuss this issue as well: some of the four-wire instruments in the plant have their own power supply, so I can use a signal generator to provide a 4-20mA signal directly. The AI inputs on the DCS side are connected in a passive manner, allowing them to receive the signal from the signal generator during circuit testing. However, some two-wire instruments are powered directly by the AI points on the DCS side, using an active connection method. As a result, when I use a signal generator to provide a 4-20mA signal on-site, it seems to conflict with the 4-20mA signal already present in the existing circuit; in other words, there are two sources of signal. Yet even in this situation, the signal generated by the signal generator can still be sent to the DCS, and the control station can display the signal provided by the signal generator on-site. What is the principle behind this? Moreover, in both cases, the settings of the signal generator, its wiring, buttons, etc., remained unchanged
It doesn’t come with it; it can’t supply power at 1 to 5 volts when under load! It has power supply!
