Recently, during the installation of the rising and falling tubes for D301 (the steam drum), it was noted in the drawings related to the falling tubes that there is a weld site reserved for a hydrostatic test. The note states that after the hydrostatic test is completed, the existing weld will be cut before grooving welding is carried out for official use. I would like to ask those who are familiar with the DAVY process: what is the purpose of this design?
