Everyone, when pressurizing a system (especially high-pressure systems), should the centrifugal pump inside the system be pressurized along with the system, or should it be isolated before pressurization? Isolating the pump is beneficial as it prevents damage to the mechanical seal; but what are the consequences of pressurizing it along with the system?
It depends on whether the system is pressed after the vehicle is stopped or before it starts driving. 1. If pressing occurs after the vehicle is stopped, then a blind flange needs to be added to isolate the centrifugal pump; 2. If pressurizing the system before starting the pump, it is best to first check whether the outlet valve of the centrifugal pump can be closed tightly. If it can, the pressure in the system during pressurization should generally not exceed 1.5 MPa. If this value is exceeded, consider starting the centrifugal pump and then closing the outlet valve to pressurize the system; this will provide some protection for the pump and the valve itself against the pressure difference
Thank you. As you said, if the import and export are shut off and the pump is started, it does protect the valves, but is it okay for the pump to run idle? Normally, I think it’s sufficient to just close the inlet and outlet valves of the pump. I hope everyone can continue to provide valuable feedback.
I think it’s sufficient to close the pump outlet. For critical pumps, one is usually in operation while the other serves as a backup; the backup pump is under pressure at all times. If both pumps are subjected to increased pressure simultaneously, it could cause damage to the mechanical seal. In such a case, can the backup pump still function as a backup?
