I have a distillation project underway, and I’m not sure about the results. I hope fellow experts can help assess it. The feed stream consists of 70% methanol and 30% water at a rate of 2000 kg/h; it also contains trace amounts of about 3% sodium hydroxide. The goal is to achieve a separation that yields 99% pure methanol, with a yield of over 98%. So far, I’ve built a distillation tower that is 10 meters high, using 500Y mesh corrugated packing. The retraction section is 3600 mm high, while the distillation section is 2000 mm high. Since this is my first time working on a distillation process, I’m not entirely confident. I would appreciate any advice on whether these specifications meet the requirements. Thank you!
