Our styrene plant is equipped with a steam superheater, whose combustion medium consists of natural gas and the dehydrogenation off-gases from the plant (mainly hydrogen). Recent environmental monitoring has shown that the levels of nitrogen oxides in the flue gases are above the permissible limits, and the levels of sulfides are also excessive. How should this situation be addressed and adjusted? Could it be that the oxygen content in our flue gases is too high? How are nitrogen oxides formed?
