The weld joint between the lifting lug pad and the shell of the container requires surface inspection; then, does the weld joint between the lug and the pad also need surface inspection?
The welded joints of the lifting lugs and shims do not require surface inspection. Surface inspection is required for the weld joint between the lifting lug gasket on the container and the shell, as welding defects in this joint can affect the container itself; for example, cracks can spread to the container body, leading to its failure. The defects in the weld joint between the lifting lugs and the gusset plates do not spread to the container body; therefore, surface inspection is not required.
The welded joints of the lifting lugs and gussets require surface inspection.
In accordance with the inspection requirements for lugs specified in HG/T21574-2008 4.3, PT or MT testing is required
It belongs to Class E welds and requires surface inspection.
