Open the drain valves on the tube and shell sides of the heat exchanger, drain all the liquid accumulated there, and then close them. Open the outlet valve for the cold medium. Open the inlet valve for the cold medium, and close the bypass valve at the same time. Once the cold medium is operating properly, slightly open the inlet valve for the hot medium to carry out preheating. After preheating is complete, fully open the heat medium outlet valve. Gradually open the hot medium inlet valve, while closing the hot medium bypass valve, until the bypass valve is fully closed and the inlet valve is fully open. When putting it into operation, the cold flow should be introduced first followed by the hot flow; this is because introducing the hot flow first causes the various components to expand due to heat, while introducing the cold flow afterward causes them to contract sharply. Such a temperature difference will immediately lead to leaks at the static sealing points. Conversely, when shutting down the heat exchanger, the hot flow should be stopped first, followed by the cold flow. When introducing a cold medium or a hot medium, it is first necessary to ensure that the bypass line is unobstructed. After slowly opening the outlet valve and confirming there are no issues, the inlet valve should also be opened slowly to prevent pressure buildup. During the process of introducing the medium, it is important to monitor any changes in the equipment’s condition. When opening the inlet valve again after the test, it must be done slowly to prevent pressure buildup; during the operation, it is necessary to monitor any changes in the equipment.
