Hello everyone, I have a question for you: For tower equipment, what are the purposes of installing differential pressure gauges between certain layers of trays in order to monitor the pressure drop across those trays? I would be very grateful if you could share your insights. Thank you so much!
In general, it is to understand the operation of the tower. By understanding the pressure drop, the heat balance, material balance, and gas-liquid balance can be adjusted in a timely manner.
It is mainly used to monitor the vapor-liquid phase load of the tray, I guess
The pressure drop can reflect the efficiency of the tower’s operation as well as the equilibrium between the gas and liquid phases; the pressure drop is taken into account during the design of each tray in the tower
Balance is also reflected in the flooding column and stripping column; incidentally, it’s possible to check the operating conditions of each layer, which is similar to installing temperature measurement points on several layers of trays
