If one of the solenoid valves used in bag filter dust removal fails, how can we quickly determine which one is problematic? There is also the issue that the sealing rings of these valves tend to wear out; any experienced technicians who can provide guidance would be appreciated
Generally, solenoid valves make noise when they operate, especially those used for spraying; by listening to the sound, it is possible to determine which circuit has a problem
It’s difficult to determine the situation if multiple solenoids operate at the same time.
This is the drawback of pipeline solenoid valves: when a problem occurs, it’s not possible to get real-time feedback on site; with PLCs, one can only check the electrical circuitry
In typical bag filter systems, the solenoid valves operate one after another. By listening to the sounds, if a solenoid valve does not operate, check the voltage (usually 24 volts DC); if there is no voltage, then the solenoid valve is damaged
For the dust removal station at the coking plant I worked on before, there were eleven storage bins, and each bin had 12 solenoid valves installed at its top for spraying air; these valves made a lot of noise when in operation. When they broke down, no air was sprayed. The same was true for the filters at the inlet of the air compressor. There’s nothing you can do about the sealing rings breaking easily
The noise at the site is quite loud; is it easy to distinguish things in such conditions?
Yes, although we don’t have any problems at the moment, we still think it’s important to know how to identify such issues quickly in case they arise someday
Then you can use an online multimeter to check which circuit has no voltage; here we can determine it simply by listening. Which brand of solenoid valve do you have? By the way, check the control system to see if the output is normal
You can place your hand on the solenoid valve; you will be able to feel it when it operates. If you don’t feel anything, check the power supply or whether the solenoid valve is damaged.:)
A circuit breakage can only be determined on-site, by listening to the sounds and feeling the jet. In the case of a short circuit, it can be identified directly from the system cabinet; when a short circuit occurs, the circuit breaker trips. Turn on the circuit breaker and observe which relay activates; once a relay is activated and causes the circuit breaker to trip, then determine which group of solenoid valves in that compartment is responsible!
