I have a few questions: 1. Is it necessary to install a pipe-type flame arrester in the exhaust pipeline of each device that is used for incineration or waste heat recovery boilers? Are there any corresponding standard requirements? 2. In the data sheet of the flame arrester, the explosion protection rating is indicated as BS5501: IIB or BS5501: IIC. Is this BS classification the same as the IEC classification based on the MESG value? I would like to ask whether grading is related only to the medium? There are also those factors that affect the explosion protection rating.
1. A flame arrester needs to be installed; when using combustion furnace/torch systems, flammable and explosive gases as well as sources of fire are the main challenges we have to deal with. Flames can spread through piping systems, thereby causing explosions in production facilities or storage tanks and resulting in significant losses. The relevant domestic standards are not particularly well-developed, but initially they were based on the European standards 94/9/EG (commonly known as ATEX 100a) and EN1127-1. 2. Classification is mainly based on the medium; of course, in the case of a mixed gas, the specific classification depends on the volume percentage composition. In addition to the selection of the MESG gap and the explosion protection rating, the installation location is also crucial for the safety performance of the flame arrester.
