After welding the baffle in the tubular heat exchanger and inserting half of the tubes, it was found that there was one hole missing on the baffle. What should be done?
Calculate how much the heat exchange area decreases with one less tube If allowed, block one of the pipes.
Clogging the pipe is a viable option, as long as it does not affect performance.
One hole is missing on the baffle; if the process permits, one more pipe can be removed. In that case, it’s necessary to seal the corresponding tube sheet, rather than sealing the pipe itself.
Seal the corresponding pipe holes on the pipe plate.

The processing of baffle plates usually needs to be carried out together with that of the tube sheet, and after processing, a thorough inspection is required; otherwise, problems like yours will occur, which is very troublesome. When this happens, there’s no choice but to block it. What else can we do? If it’s an edge tube, can a notch be cut using gas cutting? There’s really no way to deal with the central tube
It’s because the pipe holes on the sides aren’t open. When we arrived at the site yesterday, we found that the operator had already removed some of the pipes (those in the middle). My equipment is a horizontal evaporator, and the exhaust and liquid discharge ports on the baffle plates aren’t open either. After discussion among the relevant personnel, it was decided to first check for any scratches on the removed pipes; those that can be easily removed will be taken out, and then holes will be made in the baffle plates inside the device. The pipe holes will be enlarged, and a short section of sleeve will be added

It’s also because of being drunk; the drilling of the baffle holes is done together with the drilling of the tube sheet. How could any holes be missing? Can concentricity be ensured if they are drilled separately?
