I would like to ask fellow sailors: in the desulfurization and purification unit for coke oven gas, hydrogenation conversion is carried out – is it necessary to supply additional hydrogen? Coke oven gas already contains a large amount of hydrogen; why is hydrogen added further?
Hydrogenation conversion refers to the reaction of organic sulfur with hydrogen present in coke oven gas, under the action of catalysts such as iron-molybdenum, nickel-molybdenum, and cobalt-molybdenum, to produce inorganic sulfur

This hydrogenation is related to the catalyst; it is called a hydrogenation catalyst, rather than adding hydrogen gas separately to the coke oven gas.
No additional hydrogen is needed; it’s the hydrogen already present in coke oven gas. Therefore, some time-specific terms are highly controversial and prone to causing misunderstandings.
The hydrogen content in coke oven gas is over 50%, so no additional hydrogen is required.
