Weekly Review of Liquid Ammonia: An upward trend Author/Source: Date: 2016-04-01 Clicks: 19 Domestic market: This week (3.26–4.1), the domestic liquid ammonia market continued to show an upward trend. The operating rate of on-site facilities has increased, leading to an increase in supply. In the Hebei region, the price of liquid ammonia remains stable; the typical acceptance price for liquid ammonia is between 1,950 and 2,000 yuan per ton, and sales are progressing fairly well ; The liquid ammonia market in Jiangsu region continues to see price increases; the price at Shilian rose by 110 yuan. The prevailing acceptance price in northern Jiangsu is 2,360–2,400 yuan per ton, while in southern Jiangsu the transaction prices range from 2,470–2,550 yuan per ton. In the coming period, it will be necessary to keep an eye on Sierbang’s latest bidding activities. The liquid ammonia market in Henan remains stable with slight fluctuations; the Jin Kai plant has returned to normal operation, and the prevailing cash price in Henan is 2100–2150 yuan per ton ; The price of liquid ammonia in Anhui region is on the rise; the major repairs in Anqing have brought significant benefits to the market, with the prevailing price in northern Anhui at 2260–2300 yuan per ton ; The reference price for acceptance in southern Anhui is 2,400 yuan per ton ; The price of liquid ammonia in Shandong region has risen by 30–50 yuan per ton; the mainstream cash price at factories in northern Shandong is 2070–2180 yuan per ton, while the actual transaction price in Linyi is 2320–2350 yuan per ton. Future market outlook: At present, most liquid ammonia produced in China is manufactured from coal. Affected by a slowdown in economic growth, adjustments in the energy structure, and environmental regulations, the coal industry continues to face downward pressure; market demand will keep declining, and industry prosperity is likely to further drop, resulting in only modest support for liquid ammonia costs ; Driven by the accelerated recovery in agriculture and the industrial fertilizer sector downstream, domestic urea prices continued to rise this week. Purchases by industrial fertilizer manufacturers increased, and factory inventories were low; as a result, the overall urea market saw upward trends, providing strong support for liquid ammonia prices. Affected by supply and demand dynamics, liquid ammonia is expected to remain high in price in the short term. International synthetic ammonia prices rose this week. The price at Cventicsburg (FOB) is $270–280 per ton (stable) ; Uzhny (FOB) $260-270/ton (stable) ; North Africa (FOB): $275–285 per ton (stable) ; Middle East (FOB): $320–355/ton (upward) ; U.S. Gulf (FOB) $340–350/ton (stable) ; Caribbean (FOB) $270/ton (stable).
