Nowadays, all the moving equipment in power plants requires to be started with a single button press from the control room; it’s likely that this will also be the trend in the chemical industry in the future.
Indeed, pumps and valves used in processes such as desulfurization in power plants are now started and stopped from the control room; the standards should be set by the manufacturers themselves. Of course, it is desired that the equipment require no maintenance, and personnel will conduct inspections in the workshop during each shift.
It also depends on where the pump will be used; it’s necessary to determine whether centralized control for starting and stopping is required based on the actual circumstances
