In a condensing steam turbine, if there is a leak in the pump seal, does air get into the pump chamber, or does the condensate leak outside the seal? Are the seal leaks in the standby pump the same as those in the operating pump? Seeking advice! ! . . .
In air-type steam turbines, if the seal of the condensate pump leaks, it is air that gets into the pump chamber, while only a small amount of condensate leaks outside the seal. The leakage in the seal of the standby pump is the same as that in the seal of the operating pump.
It works like this: the condensation hand pump operates with negative pressure at the inlet and positive pressure at the outlet; leakage occurs from the gasket area if the sealing of the gasket is not proper. .
Of course, water has leaked outside the mechanical seal; otherwise how would you know there’s a leak? (By the way, what type of pump is it?) ? ? )
Air from the backup pump’s mechanical seal enters the pump, causing leakage at the mechanical seal of the operating pump. Seal leakage in the standby pump affects the operating pump, causing it to fail to deliver flow and experience vacuum conditions
It is all due to air leaking into the pump body. The condensate pump operates under a high vacuum condition. It should be noted that in order to prevent air from entering the pump, the condensate pump has shaft seals as well as sealing water.
