The sealing flush coolers of high-temperature pumps often get clogged with scale; everyone can share some solutions
Improve the quality of the flushing water, or use a medium for flushing.
Deionized water is used for cooling the pump seal, with a separate closed-loop system established.
Low investment, good results – the best value-for-money option; let’s discuss it
It also needs to be addressed from the perspective of cooling water quality
It can only be said that the quality of your water is poor; switching to demineralized water should be a good option
1. Replacing circulating water with desalinated water can indeed improve the situation, but the high investment makes it practically impossible; 2. Scaling and blockage in coolers are common problems, and establishing an independent circulation system is hardly a sufficient solution.
Various organic and inorganic deposits, mostly formed from dirt and other corrosion products, can cause severe scaling on the inner and outer surfaces of the heat exchanger tubes. This situation is particularly common when using cooling water for cooling. The accelerated corrosion on the tube surface causes a rapid deterioration in heat transfer efficiency. Due to scaling, the heat transfer efficiency may drop to only 20%. The German company Sakaphen has introduced a solution to reduce scaling on the surface of pipes: coating the heat exchanger tubes with a thermal coating can provide long-term relief from tube scaling issues. In some cases, the shell side can also be coated. The new thermal coating does not affect flow rate, pressure drop, tube surface temperature, or material. A coating made of carbon steel is the best. This heat-vulcanizing coating can be applied in 6 to 8 layers; the coating is vulcanized in a specialized polymerization furnace at temperatures of 120 to 150°C, with the vulcanization temperature for the final layer being 220°C. This coating can form a uniform, hydrophobic, elastic, and pore-free surface with a total thickness of 180–200 μm; due to its thin thickness, it has minimal impact on the heat transfer coefficient. The coating composition is Si14E and Si57E, which are polyvinyl chloride-phenol resin polycondensates; this material offers high corrosion resistance and can be used in all types of cooling water media, including seawater and brackish water, as well as chemical media. It can withstand temperatures up to 200°C. This technology has been applied in petrochemical plants.
Are there any successful cases of using coatings? Everyone, share your experiences
The coating doesn’t work either. The water quality cannot be changed; one can only increase the frequency of waste discharge and clean it promptly based on the heat exchange efficiency.
