I just want to ask, what are the advantages of tangential feeding? We all use direct feeding from the top; the material has a particle size of 200 mesh and a specific gravity of 1.6, and it is delivered using tank trucks. Later, due to urgency, two metal sheet storage bins were purchased from outside; they use tangential feeding. What is the purpose of that? The boss asked me to check; I really can’t find it. Tangential feeding does not easily generate dust
How should this be understood? It means that dust is not easily generated, right? But our warehouse is already equipped with a dust collector on the roof, so no external dust will be produced regardless of how the materials are fed in. As for internal dust, what impact could it have?
I’m not sure about your process (how loading is done in tank trucks). Generally, gas phase conveying is used for transporting powder materials. To ensure thorough separation of the gas from the powder once it enters the silo, tangential feeding is employed at the silo’s inlet, thereby preventing the gas from carrying away the powder (which would otherwise affect the operation of the fan system and lead to material loss). The silos you purchase use this standard feeding method.
During tangential feeding, the material moves along the container walls due to centrifugal force as it enters and descends; this rotation causes the dust to move in all directions, while relatively clean air is discharged from the center, thereby reducing the load on the dust collector.
What I mean is the original main storage bin of the system; once the materials arrive, they are transported using tank trucks, and of course, pneumatic conveying is also used. Then, for entering the silo, others use a tangential approach, while we feed material directly from the top of our silo; I don’t think that has any impact. We also have a dust collector on top of the silo.
Mm-hmm, I think that’s indeed the reason. With feeding in the middle, there’s a lot of dust generated, which increases the load on the dust collector. As for feeding at an angle, it causes more wear and tear on the container itself; there are obviously also disadvantages to that

Of course, this is related to the properties of the material. There is a big difference between powder and granules, and it is also related to the amount of dust present. You say you don’t notice any changes; perhaps the material you’re using consists of fine particles or dust in very small amounts, and it’s in granular form, so thorough gas-solid separation isn’t necessary, and strict requirements regarding the feeding method aren’t applicable. Some are not...
