On November 30, Eastern Time, the first reactor coolant shield main pump (referred to as the “main pump”) SN16 for Unit 2 of Haiyang Nuclear Power Plant was manufactured at Curtis Wright Company’s EMD facility in the United States and shipped out; the second main pump, SN13, is scheduled to be shipped on December 5. The AP1000 nuclear power technology features a unique passive design concept and advanced technical capabilities. Its main pump is a vertical, single-stage, centrifugal, fully enclosed shielded motor pump; unlike the shaft-sealed pumps commonly used in other reactor types, the AP1000 main pump involves complex technology, high standards, and presents significant challenges. During the manufacturing of the main pumps, Shandong Nuclear Power kept close track of the progress, organized and coordinated all relevant parties to carefully summarize and draw on the experience gained from the manufacturing, shipping, and unpacking inspections of the main pumps for Units 1 in Haiyang and Sanmen, thereby facilitating the optimization of various tasks related to EMD. Before the main pump was shipped, Shandong Nuclear Power organized a special coordination meeting with Westinghouse, EMD, and JPMO to discuss the shipment process of the main pump, carefully planning all relevant tasks, which ultimately ensured the successful completion and shipment of the first batch of main pumps for Unit 2. As Zibo’s first e-commerce industrial base for physical enterprises, the China Pump Industry Network selects and supports a number of local pump manufacturers in creating e-commerce platforms for their specific products, with the aim of facilitating B2B online transactions for all customers in the pump industry.
