Hello, my company produces vitamin-related products. The composition of the wastewater is quite complex, containing substances such as methanol, ethanol, DMF, as well as a large amount of salts. The COD value of the raw water can be as high as 400,000; we need to dilute it to 2,500 before it can be fed into the biological treatment system. As a result, the amount of wastewater that can be processed per day is very small, and there’s too much wastewater to handle. I was wondering if there are any ways to increase the COD level of our incoming water, so that the treatment process can proceed more quickly: lol

Hello, the high COD level of the raw water is due to the presence of certain organic solvents and intermediates in it. Generally, organic solutions containing alcohols are easy to biodegrade; however, the presence of large amounts of intermediates increases their biological toxicity and reduces the B/C ratio. In our company, we first use physical and chemical methods to remove those intermediates with high toxicity through recovery or oxidation, and then proceed with biochemical treatment. This approach not only ensures that the wastewater meets regulatory standards but also allows for the recycling of these intermediates, thereby reducing operating costs. I would like to ask the teacher: I am currently using groundwater as the raw water source, but this source is polluted. The treatment process involves air flotation, a clear water tank, a raw water tank, sand filtration, a pre-filter, and reverse osmosis. At present, the filter elements wear out quickly, the reverse osmosis system gets clogged easily requiring frequent cleaning, there is a yellow, sticky layer on the inner surface of the pre-filter, and the replaced filter elements start to emit an odor after being stored for some time. Sodium hypochlorite is used as the disinfectant, added every other day for 15 hours at a time.

High water hardness and severe pollution, along with inadequate pre-treatment processes; it is recommended to test for hardness and heavy metals and conduct a water quality analysis! Yellow indicates that the ferrous iron has changed to ferric iron, while viscosity is caused by microbial contamination. You can send me a message on my platform; I can prepare a solution for you.
