The drain valve for mass flow rate is located after the flow meter

As the title suggests: During a recent inspection, it was found that the drain valve of our mass flow meter is located after the flow meter itself. Previously, such valves were always situated before the flow meter, and that’s also how it is shown in our PID diagrams. I’m not sure what the reason for this is; I would appreciate any guidance from those with more experience.
Is the medium gas or vapor? It should normally be placed before the flow meter, to prevent measurement errors caused by liquid condensation. The drawings are all at the front; it must have been a mistake during installation.
