I work in a manufacturing plant, and I’ve noticed that many containers with jackets leak easily during pressure testing. Why is that? Could it be due to the structure or welding issues?

After all, if a manufacturer makes something that functions as a container, the regulatory authorities will conduct inspections, and documentation related to containers is required – documentation that applies to forgings, sheets, and pipes as well
What I want to ask is that with the clamping sleeve body and the ram, the sheet material will definitely stretch or something, but this is a container – don’t you take any photos? And this is a container – it can’t be welded by just any welder with a welding certificate; there must be no residue left behind. I work in the manufacturing of chemical equipment as well, and such containers don’t leak frequently

It’s a horizontal issue; if the jacket is leaking, then it’s hard to say what will happen to the tank
I think it’s still a problem with the groove; the welding of the jacket to the cylinder can only be done on one side, which results in poor welding quality. Even when X-rays are used for inspection, it’s not possible to check 100% of the area, and this leads to leaks
It doesn’t leak frequently; it’s just that the probability of leakage is relatively higher
