Gentlemen, in many projects in Inner Mongolia, the ambient temperature is very low. Is the low ambient temperature taken into account when selecting the design temperature for the pipes? Are there any standard specifications that address this?

It must be taken into account that, under normal conditions in China, carbon steel is suitable for use; the lowest operating temperature for carbon steel in China is -20 degrees Celsius, while for carbon steel according to American standards it is -29 degrees Celsius.
Personally, I don’t think it’s necessary. This is because the operating temperature of the pipeline during use is certainly not the ambient temperature; whereas the ambient temperature when the pipeline is shut down is low, but it is not part of the operating environment. For steel frames and the like, which are always at the same temperature as the ambient temperature, this must be taken into account. If the pipes are actually operated at low temperatures, low-temperature considerations have already been taken into account, so it’s no problem.
