Our company is a coal chemical enterprise. The circulating water in the gas generation workshop is primarily used for washing and cooling purposes. However, due to years of full circulation (and strict emission standards that require zero emissions), pollutants have continued to accumulate, resulting in complex water quality. Currently, the pH level of the water is between 7.2 and 7.5; ammonia nitrogen levels are as high as 20,000 mg/l, COD levels are 7,000 mg/l, chloride ions amount to 9,000 mg/l, and sulfate ions reach 60,000 mg/l. The presence of large amounts of strongly acidic anions means that NH4+ dominates in the water, preventing NH3 from being released into the gas phase, which explains the high ammonia nitrogen levels and poses a serious environmental hazard. What are some good ways to deal with this? It is sufficient to reduce ammonia nitrogen and COD by 50% or more; there is no requirement to meet the emission standards. We currently have a highly successful set of equipment for treating water in gas production cycles; the treated water can be reused directly. It requires little space, has low operating costs, does not need the addition of chemicals, and features a short payback period for investment.
