I work at a gas station, handling the manual gas-phase shut-off valve at the unloading station. When the pressure is equalized during unloading, everything works fine as long as the valve is opened to less than half of its maximum position. But once it is opened beyond half that position, it becomes obvious that the sound of gas flowing inside the pipes decreases. I then close the shut-off valve and try opening it again slowly; as long as it isn’t opened past half, both the flow rate and the sound remain normal. After that, I disassembled the shut-off valve and found that the connection between the valve stem and the valve core was in good condition, with no signs of looseness. With no other solutions, I sought help from the manufacturer’s technicians, who sent me a new shut-off valve. Yet the same problem persisted even after replacing it. May I ask, what could be the possible reasons for such situations? ? ? I’ve really never encountered something like this; it’s so unsolvable!
Do you mean that the sound is louder when the valve is opened slightly, and quieter when it is opened more fully?
Is resonance occurring in the gas flow? Does the stop valve used for steam also make noise?
It’s normal – when the opening is small, the sound is loud; once it’s balanced, the sound is relatively softer.
When the voltage drops on both sides are balanced, the sound level naturally decreases.
That’s right; during unloading and leveling, it should be kept running no matter what, as the noise level remains very high
When the valve is opened slightly, the throttling effect is strong, so the noise is loud; when the valve is opened more fully, the throttling effect is reduced, and the noise becomes quieter. This should be a normal phenomenon
