I have just started working in the petrochemical construction industry and am currently acting as a document clerk. Regarding the issue of as-built drawings for pipelines, do as-built drawings need to be prepared for the pipeline layout diagrams as well? I hope fellow netizens can help explain this!
In industries other than the chemical sector, this is something we need to do. The actual weld locations and support positions at the site must be shown.
It’s necessary; these days, many designs do not provide separate single-line diagrams. And even when such diagrams are provided, those supplied by the designers do not always meet the actual requirements of construction work. As for whether the pipeline single-line diagram counts as part of the completion acceptance documents, it seems that’s not the case.
If it is a pressure pipeline, this must be done; the weld lines as well as the locations of flaw inspections must be indicated. The pipeline’s diameter, length, and wall thickness also need to be specified. In addition, a list of details related to the pressure pipeline is required, including the medium used, the pressure level, the proportion of inspections to be carried out, the welding method, and the name of the person who performed the welding

This is not necessary; a pipeline single-line diagram is a simple schematic drawn by the construction party itself for ease of on-site management and communication with testing and supervision units during construction. Completion documents generally do not require such diagrams, unless the design specifies their creation, in which case they need to be included in the completion documents as supplementary information. In cases like the records of pipeline installation work in process plants, single-line diagrams showing the route of each pipeline and the locations of welds are required, and these must be included in the completion documents
In actual construction, if the changes are minor, the as-built drawings can be prepared by making revisions to the construction drawings
