For tank areas in operation, under what circumstances is it necessary to take measurements, and under what circumstances are they not needed? What are the precautions when taking measurements?
For the first time that oil is poured into a newly put into use tank, the level must be checked every 2 hours (depending on the properties of the oil, with a focus on crude oil types); level checks are also necessary when there are issues with the readings from the servo level gauge
In the tank areas that are in operation, measurements are taken under the following circumstances: after material receipt or dispatch, a measurement is taken after allowing 30 minutes for stabilization; monthly inventory checks also require measurements; measurements are taken when there is a discrepancy in quantities; and measurements are conducted during random inspections as well. No measurement is required other than this. Precautions for measuring: When dealing with toxic, harmful, flammable, or explosive materials, it is necessary to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (gloves, filtered gas masks), and eliminate static electricity before entering the tank. Proceed after the liquid level stabilizes. When measuring, stand on the upwind side and apply ointment or paste; when lowering the measuring tool, do so slowly along the measurement opening (being familiar with the height of each tank in the area), gently touch the bottom of the tank and hold for a few seconds before lifting it. The measurement should be taken twice; if the error is within 1 millimeter, then one measurement is considered sufficient.
