Generally, what type of flow meter is used for accurate measurement of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide? We use Cologne mass flow meters. It is currently hot weather, and especially for ethylene oxide, which generally vaporizes at around 10 degrees Celsius, resulting in significant measurement errors. . . .
Our company uses Rosemount mass flowmeters to measure EO, and as far as I remember, there were no issues with their performance.
I don’t think this is a problem related to the type of flow meter; it should be addressed from a process perspective As mentioned by Haiyou above, using Rosemount is fine; it might work well under his specific operating conditions and processes. However, in your case, using Rosemount might also present problems. This requires analysis on a case-by-case basis; it’s not possible to generalize.
For gas-liquid two-phase flow, no flow meter will work. It seems that from a technical perspective, what’s needed is to provide the flow meter sensor with some kind of cooling coil, similar to those used for steam tracing.
The mass flow meter is installed on the pipeline; we can only ensure insulation and shading. The temperature of the pipeline must be controlled through the manufacturing process – if it cannot be measured, then process adjustments or treatment of the pipeline are necessary.
Rosemont model, with EO plus cooling for temperature control, around 0–5 degrees……
I’ve installed insulation on all the pipes here, along with E+H mass flow meters – no problems
