I accidentally made a scratch on it; will it affect its use? There is no break inside.
How did it get broken? If it’s due to high temperatures, such as welding sparks, it might not work anymore. In the case of mechanical damage, as long as the inner tube isn’t crushed, there’s no major problem
The inner tube is fine; it’s just the outer tube that was touched by the welding torch, which caused a hole in it
A welding torch generates high temperatures, so it’s likely to be difficult. Which transmitter are you using? Power the transmitter, and apply pressure to the diaphragm at the end of the capillary with your finger; see if there is any change in the pressure indicated on the gauge If it’s not there, it’s useless
If it’s the protective sleeve outside the capillary that’s damaged, but the inside is intact, then there’s no problem – use it as usual. But if the capillaries inside are damaged and silicone oil leaks out, it can no longer be used.
The outer tube serves a protective purpose; as long as the inner tube is not damaged, it does not affect usage!
I still recommend powering the gauge and pressing on the diaphragm to check the pressure display. Since you mentioned that it was caused by a welding torch, which generates high temperatures, in severe cases both the inner and outer tubes can get damaged. It’s also possible that the inner tube remains intact, but the liquid inside it gets vaporized, causing the diaphragm to bulge like a large lump. It is also possible that the diaphragm does not bulge, but there is discoloration near the inner tube at the defective area, showing a yellowish color; it is also possible that the area has been vaporized, which affects pressure transmission
Power supply is working today; when the diaphragm was pressed, the numbers changed. It should be fine; I didn’t press the positive/negative button, so it ended up at around 20.
In the 20s? What unit is that? kPa? That’s quite high. During installation, keep away from high welding temperatures. You are lucky; I’ve encountered many cases where the high temperatures from welding caused damage to the capillaries, resulting in damage to the inner tube or even its vaporization.
