Since the material requirements in PED 97/23/EC are those of EU standards. However, there is not much EU-compliant material produced domestically, making it difficult to purchase. If we want to replace it with other material standards, what do we need to do? What does PMA refer to in PED/CE certification?
PMA – Particular Material Appraisal (special evaluation of materials). In the certification process, this assessment is required when the materials used are not those approved by the EU or in accordance with the EU’s harmonized standards.
Currently, none in China, not even those from ASME, have obtained PMA approval. . So, conventionally, the material meets ASME standards, and then certificates such as 3.2 are obtained to meet PED requirements. .
If the supplier obtains certification under PED/97/23/EC by using ASME materials. So, if a foreign customer has a PED/97/23/EC project that requires the use of EU materials, and the supplier finds it difficult to obtain all of those EU materials and would like to use ASME materials for manufacturing, can the supplier use ASME materials to issue a 3.2 certificate? Have any domestic manufacturers produced similar equipment? How is it operated?
For the special assessment of PMA materials, it is possible to apply for 3.2 or PED 4.3; 3.1 can also be obtained
Could you provide the table format for PMA? Thank you
