Dear teachers, I have been working on designing a slender tower (with a diameter of 2 meters and a height of about 80 meters). After calculation, since the wind speed exceeds the first and second critical wind speeds, it is required to verify the strength of the equipment in the event of resonance. I would like to confirm whether the SW6 calculation sheet includes a check of strength under resonance conditions. (I read an article before saying that SW6 does not take resonance into account, but I think the calculation documents include checks on the strength of the equipment under resonance conditions.)
I just consulted an expert, who told me that SW6 has calculations for resonance. However, it is recommended that if the wind speed is too high, consider installing a windbreak ring above the upper 1/3 of the structure.
With such a small tower and yet such a high height, is another separation process being considered?

Generally, it’s tricky to perform calculations for towers with a length-to-diameter ratio exceeding 30; in your case, this ratio exceeds 40 even when including the base. The deflection at the top of the tower will be very large even if calculations are carried out, and it’s likely that the thickness of both the base and the lowest section of the cylinder is also considerable. If no solutions can be found through process adjustments, consider adding flow disruptors or windbreak rings; if the tower is located within a frame, it would be reasonable to add a tower hoop.
