What is a good sealant for threaded connections of instrument air supply pipes?
Previously, hemp thread was used, but later on a foreign project it was not allowed; only glue could be used, and even tape was not permitted.
Yeah! I was using hemp rope too; now I realize that over time its sealing properties become poor
What size pipe do you have? If it’s a process pipe, I’ll help move it to the Piping and Valves section for discussion.
Small, 3/4, 1 inch; the main pipe is 2 inches for instrument air
We used duct tape, and the contractor used mixed paint for installation – the result was good!
Liquid sealant that forms in a manner similar to tape.
Use PTFE gaskets at the joints, and tape at the threads.
