What is the function of the intermediate tank?

The clear liquid resulting from filtration in our filter press goes into the buffer tank. But why not go directly into the buffer tank? Why is it necessary to first send it to a small intermediate tank and then transfer it from there to the buffer tank? I think there’s no need for such an intermediate tank
Is it to prevent filtration under unstable buffer conditions?
The purpose is to ensure that the clear liquid contains no solid particles; it is used for testing, and if it does not meet the standards, it can be sent back for reprocessing until it is clean before it can enter the buffer tank.
It’s for sedimentation, right? Even after pressure filtration, there will still be residual solids
Is that small one called a temporary storage tank?
