If the points are the same, which one results in a lower system price? Is the S7 more suitable for applications with extensive logical control along with a small number of PID control loops, while the JX-300XP is better suited for loop control?
The S7 has many series: 200, 300, 400. Which series did you choose?
When competing with 400 DCS systems, it’s definitely the redundant configuration of 400H + ET200M + 300 IO modules that is used; this is a typical PCS7 setup, and its price makes it competitive against many rivals
;It’s very likely that the JX300XP is cheaper. At this point in development, there isn’t really much difference between PLCs and DCS. The so-called concepts of logic control and loop control are quite outdated.
400 will definitely suffice; a new S7-1500 has been released recently
Functionally, there is little difference between DCS and PLC; In terms of price, domestic DCS systems might be cheaper ; In terms of system maintenance: DCS offers significant advantages, such as high integration, redundancy (at the module, network, and power supply levels), hot-swapping capability, various wiring options, the ability to change the input type of sensor signals, and higher capacity per cabinet for sensors. I once built a module using 317 units, connected to 60 EM277 units, and linked to 200 other components; it offered an excellent cost-performance ratio. Ah, over time its maintainability becomes extremely poor – it’s really frustrating, especially when dealing with customers who keep making constant changes! A few years later, it was eventually replaced with DCS. With few points, use PLC sparingly for modifications after delivery. Use DCS for high points and major changes. DCS can handle logical control as well, right?
Thank you for your detailed reply. A friend of mine is the workshop supervisor at a pharmaceutical company. Today I saw a set of XX extraction liquid control system he sent; it uses an S7-400+WinCC architecture, with around 500 IO points, and the instruments cost approximately 1.8 million yuan. I think if we use the JX-300XP, it might be cheaper and simpler, right?
For future use, I think DCS is the better choice, as it also has a price advantage
