The improvement of naphtha octane number can be considered from two aspects: one is the addition of blending components as mentioned by those above, such as MTBE, aromatics, alkylated oils, and other components with high octane numbers; On the other hand, there are methods of modifying naphtha to produce high-octane components, such as the combined process of light naphtha isomerization and heavy naphtha hydrodesis, as well as processes like naphtha non-hydrodesis. At present, with the upgrade and modification of **National Standard V gasoline, more and more companies are investing in projects for low-temperature isomerization of naphtha.
Two aspects need to be considered: one is the addition of high-octane components such as MTBE, alkylated oils, and heavy aromatics for blending; Another aspect is the modification of naphtha, such as isomerization and aromatization.
Simply adding MTBE doesn’t require much technical skill; low-temperature isomerization of naphtha is the proper approach!
Simply adding additives for mixing doesn’t require much technical skill; naphtha isomerization and cyclodehydrogenation are the proper approaches!
Based on the properties of naphtha, the following methods can be employed: 1. Catalytic reforming 2. Isomerization 3. Blending with high-octane components
