What should I do if a household self-priming pump has a metallic taste in the water it pumps each time? I hope everyone can offer some suggestions; it’s not necessary to replace the pump – there must be other ways to solve this problem!
It’s probably a problem with the water pipeline; replace it more often, or add a filter.
If it’s a water source issue, then it must be resolved first! Otherwise, install a filter at the inlet to remove unpleasant odors!
Does your pump have a cast iron casing or a copper casing? You need to rule out whether it’s the pump body that’s rusted or the pipes that are rusted

Add some filters to it – for rust removal, and also activate carbon to eliminate odors
