I am currently conducting technical research for a project, and I have several questions regarding aromatic extraction. I hope those who are familiar with this topic can provide some guidance: 1. If the mixed aromatics obtained after benzene extraction are fed into another aromatic extraction unit, is it possible to separate the non-aromatic components (about 10%) from the aromatic components (about 90%) in one step? 2. The most significant factor affecting the projects under consideration is the presence of C10 alkanes (with similar boiling points); although their concentration is only about 0.2%, they still affect the purity of our target product. Therefore, I would like to ask whether it is possible to remove C10 alkanes completely from the C9 aromatics after aromatic extraction 3. Is the heavy aromatic by-product from current aromatic extraction units obtained directly from the heavy fractionation tower, or is it separated after passing through the extraction tower? 1. The mixed aromatics after extraction go to the clay column to remove olefins, and then to the benzene column. 2. Obtained from the degassing tower; a small portion of material with a molecular weight above C9 is obtained from the bottom of the xylene tower
Here, we separate the fractions below C5 and C7 through post-fractionation; the extracted feed consisting only of the C6C7 fraction is called mixed benzene. Gasoline with high octane number is used for grades below C7. C5 goes to other processes.

Does that mean the C8 component is also directly cut out and separated as mixed xylene? Won’t that contain non-aromatics? It seems that no additional extraction unit is in use after the aromatic compounds have been extracted; the non-aromatic compounds should have been removed essentially in the stripping tower. The C9 compounds and those with higher molecular weights were separated out in the octane removal tower before they reached the extraction stage. C6--C8 as the extraction feed
Surely, non-aromatic compounds with a high carbon count cannot be separated at the top of the benzene tower
