Is the on-site cabinet room connected to the central control room via fiber optic transmission? I want to know what protocol is used for transmitting this optical fiber, and what are the typical transmission distances for single-mode and multi-mode optical fibers? How was the number of optical fibers determined?
1. Fiber optic is merely a transmission medium; it has no protocols of its own. The protocol used depends on the protocols employed by the devices at both ends and in the networking setup. 2. Multi-mode up to 2KM ; Single-mode is much longer, ranging from 10KM to 20KM. 3. As for the number of optical fibers to be used, it depends on the equipment that will be used for transmission in your on-site cabinet room. If each device transmits separately, half-duplex mode requires N (the number of devices) fibers, while full-duplex mode requires 2N fibers ; If the devices can be gathered together, it is recommended to use a switch with optical ports, so that two optical fibers will suffice.
Optical fibers are merely transmission media, just as network cables/twisted pairs are transmission media; by adding photoelectric converters to both ends of the optical fibers, you can use them just like network cables; Generally, a fiber optic cable contains several fibers, for example, 6 fibers ; Normally, one fiber optic cable is used for transmission and another for reception; in other words, a 6-core fiber optic cable can be used as 3 network cables

Therefore, the total number of fibers in glass fiber cables must be at least 4. My practice is to use two multimode fibers, each with 4 or 6 fibers, so that there is a backup fiber in each cable. You can consider a four-core multimode optical cable.
