The Claus acid gas generated by low-temperature methanol washing is sent to a sulfur recovery unit for treatment. Fluctuations in the flow rate of this acid gas affect the sulfur recovery process; therefore, I would like to ask the experts here how to address such fluctuations in flow rate.
List some possible reasons for troubleshooting: 1. Is the H2S concentration in the feed gas stable? Each time we change the type of coal used in the vaporizer in our facility, the H2S concentration fluctuates to some extent, which in turn causes fluctuations in the flow rate of acidic gases. 2. Is the operating pressure of the thermal regeneration tower stable? We have experienced fluctuations in tower pressure due to variations in the steam pressure of the reboiler; these pressure fluctuations lead to changes in the amount of methanol vapor, which in turn results in fluctuations in the flow rate of acidic gases. The above are just some of our experiences with this device; we welcome additional insights from other professionals in the field.
http://bbs.hcbbs.com/thread-1419088-1-1.html I used to worry about this as well; we produce sulfuric acid using the WSA process, but low-temperature methanol washing is used in the earlier stages. The key is to maintain proper liquid level balance; once the low-temperature methanol washing process is stable, thermal regeneration will also be stable. After that, the acid gas in the system stabilized. Check whether the level valve in the reflux tank at the top of the thermal regeneration tower is stable. If there are any other questions, let’s discuss them further
Although the cause of the fluctuations in the acid gas flow rate has not been determined, the following phenomenon was observed: when the temperature in the regeneration section of the thermal regeneration tower is too high, it results in 1) a consistently high \"liquid level\" in the reflux tank; 2) Methanol cannot be condensed, resulting in severe gas-liquid entrainment in the desulfurization recovery gas.
Control the temperature of the acid gas generated due to low methane levels, maintain stable pressure; valve operation is manual, while venting to the flare is automatic
