The project details are as follows: Due to limited space, the pipe corridors extend across different areas; the ceiling height of these cross-sectional pipe corridors is relatively high. As a result, the main steam condensate pipes are placed at higher levels in order to meet the requirements regarding slope gradients. There are numerous drain valves in the areas that these corridors cross, and they can be found at all different ceiling heights. If the main condensate collection pipes within each area are also designed to slope towards the main pipe corridor, then the condensate pipes at each ceiling height would have to rise to very high positions in order to connect to the area’s main collection pipes. This would require a large number of such rising pipes. I would like to ask if it would be possible for the pipes from each ceiling height to converge together before connecting to the area’s main pipe, or if they could each connect directly to the main pipe corridor. If convergence is possible at lower levels, then those pipes could definitely converge first before rising further. I wonder whether this approach would allow the two-phase flow pipes to meet the required slope gradients. Thank you!

In fact, based on my experience, it’s not good to have the condensate pipes too high; they are pipes with low pressure to begin with. Although general guidelines state that process pipelines should be placed on the lower layer while utility pipelines should be on the upper layer, in my actual design work I place the condensate pipes on the lower layer.
In accordance with the mandatory requirements specified in \"Pressure Pipeline Technology\" written by Teacher Yue Jincai, \"Pressure Pipeline Design and Engineering Applications\" written by Teacher Song Keko, and SH3012 \"Design Rules for the Layout of Metal Pipelines in Petrochemical Industries\" written by Teacher Zhang Dejiang: Condensate pipelines are considered hot pipelines, and utility pipelines must be installed on the utility layer of the pipe rack; the lowest layer is reserved for process pipelines. These two types of pipelines generally should not be installed together, as this can lead to accidents. If the condensate pipes are placed in the lower layer of the pipe tray, they must be kept at a certain distance from other process pipes. The condensate pipes can converge separately before joining the main pipe in the area, which also fully meets the slope requirements. However, the condenser tubes of heat tracing stations should not be combined before being fed into the main pipe; instead, they should be connected directly to the condensate main pipe. In the case of a comprehensive large utility tunnel, the condensate pipes can be laid horizontally without requiring a slope.
