Is insulation required for the steam drum of a waste heat boiler as per regulations?
A thermal insulation chamber is essential; insulation and protective layers must be installed in accordance with the specifications. When the room temperature is 27°C, the surface temperature on the outside should not exceed 50°C. Lacking such insulation poses serious risks – not only does it violate safety and hygiene regulations, but it also leads to unacceptable temperature differences on the inner and outer walls of the steam drum, as well as between the upper and lower parts of these walls (with a maximum allowed difference of 50°C). This results in significant thermal stress, which can shorten the service life of the steam drum or, in severe cases, cause cracks in it, leading to its destruction.
