For some reason, whether it’s the hydrogenation reboiler, the heater, or the hydrogen production converter, the blowers here are controlled using the inlet butterfly valve, while the exhaust fans are controlled using the outlet butterfly valve. Why is that? Please ask an expert to answer
Why not use variable frequency regulation? These are all 380, right? The cost of frequency conversion isn’t high either
We’re also using variable frequency; I’m not sure why
Valves are not the key issue; what’s important is that fans generally don’t come equipped with valves. It’s like using a household fan – would you install valves in front of and behind it just to adjust the airflow? Variable frequency control is so great – it saves electricity; the cost associated with using the variable frequency drive can be offset within one or two months
I don’t know what considerations were behind the design at the time; I’m very conflicted now
