If liquid chlorine or sodium hypochlorite is used for sterilizing the circulating water, it is reasonable to have a certain amount of free chlorine in the water. But if chlorine gas or sodium hypochlorite is not used for disinfection, it is necessary to determine the source of free chlorine. Because a leak in a small chlorine heat exchanger can lead to serious accidents. Since the operating pressure of the chlorine cooler is not high, if the circulation pressure is too high and there are leaks in the heat exchange process, water can flow back into the chlorine, which could lead to serious accidents.
To prevent the growth of algae and fungi, trace amounts of chlorine, sodium hypochlorite, etc., are added to circulating water; as a result, all such water contains less than 1 mg/l of free chlorine
