During the construction of long-distance pipelines, should welding be done below the trench or above it? If welding is to be done above the trench, after how much length of pipe has been welded should work begin underground? And how should the welds be made once work is carried out underground?
With the appropriate equipment, welding can be carried out while being in the trench; welding can take place as work progresses in the trench, or welding can be done after non-destructive testing is completed. Generally, large-diameter pipes are welded while they are in the trench
