Xijiangyue: The bright moon startles the magpies on the branches; a gentle breeze brings the sound of cicadas in the middle of the night. Amidst the fragrance of rice flowers, we speak of a bountiful year; the sound of frogs fills the air. Seven or eight stars in the sky, two or three drops of rain before the mountains. Once, by the thatched inn near the village woods, it suddenly appeared as the path turned at the stream.
Xijiang Yue by Xin Qiji from the Song Dynasty was written, if I remember correctly, in Jiangxi. This poem can be considered one of Xin Qiji’s representative works; its style is lively and differs from that of his other poems. I personally really like this song.
