Got tricked by a scam call

I was tricked by a scam call and felt very uncomfortable. This morning I received a call with the code +87 followed by a landline number; it claimed to be from the provincial public security department. They said that it was illegal for me to apply for a card in another location and that I was involved in some kind of money laundering activity. They even mentioned my name and ID number, which really confused me. They asked me to cooperate with the police investigation. I thought if it were the police, they would come and investigate in person – why make a phone call? I didn’t even know whether that call was indeed from the police, and it was strange that there was a 87 at the beginning of the number. Nowadays, information leakage is so severe that I wasn’t sure what to believe. I hung up the phone, but they called again later; in total, they called three times. It made me feel uneasy, so I quickly asked my colleague, who told me that it was a scam call. That’s when I finally calmed down a little! Has anyone ever encountered this situation! Information security is really poor these days
It’s a standard scam call; I’ve never encountered one, but my colleagues around me have. Just add such calls to the blacklist and ignore them.
I also received a scam call from someone pretending to be a police officer; they said that my phone number was detecting the same signal source in another location, and that it belonged to a criminal. They asked me to turn off my phone so that they could track the signal source. I turned off my phone hesitantly, but thinking it might be a scam, I turned it back on right away. Soon after, my parents called and said they had received a call from an unknown person using my phone number, claiming that I had been in an accident and was in the hospital, and asking them to send money
These scammers are truly everywhere!
I had never encountered this before; it was a bit surprising to receive such a call all of a sudden, haha!
I’ve also received such calls. He claimed to be from the public security bureau, and my first reaction was that I was dealing with a scammer. I decided to have a proper conversation with him. First, I asked him which specific public security bureau it was, what its name was, and what his police number was. Apparently, the scammer didn’t expect me to ask those questions, so he was confused and gave evasive answers. That made me even more certain that it was a scammer. Perhaps feeling guilty and realizing there was no hope left, he hung up the phone in an angry manner.
Honestly, if these scammers applied their skills to legitimate purposes, they might be able to achieve something. It’s either because the cost of fraud is too low, or because the general public’s awareness of avoiding fraud has not kept up. It’s still necessary to install a phone-blocking app these days; I haven’t received any scam calls for a long time now, with only one or two getting through occasionally.
Stay calm; if you’ve never done it, there’s no need to worry. Even if the police show up in person, there’s no reason to be afraid – someone in uniform isn’t necessarily a real police officer.
I’ve encountered similar situations as well. They claimed it was a misunderstanding or that it might be done by scammers, but I still checked their numbers using 114, and the information given to me referred to the provincial public security department. I then consulted a friend who works in the police force, and he said it was a scam call; he advised me not to fall for it, saying even 114 could be fake. The next day they tried to contact me again, this time claiming to be from the provincial court. I ignored them and told them it was a scam, suggesting that they handle it on their own since I wouldn’t cooperate. With so many scammers around these days, there’s no need for them to contact me. I also told them that the ID number they mentioned was incorrect; actually, they got my ID number right. After that, they never bothered me again.
